HDPE Chemical-Service Sheets: PE100 Grade Review

Review HDPE sheets for chemical-service panels, covers and drawing-based parts. If PE100 is specified, confirm the offered grade and supporting material documents; chemical and assembly suitability require a separate review of the actual service.

    • Media review: identify chemicals, mixtures, concentration, temperature and contact duration.
    • Design inputs: specify loads, supports and permitted deformation.
    • Sheet definition: agree grade, thickness, dimensions, colour and surface.
    • Drawing-based work: cutting and CNC machining reviewed in the quotation.
    • Order checks: confirm required material records, inspection and packing.

Send the grade requirement, service conditions, drawing, quantity and destination for a sheet-supply quotation.

    Product Detail

HDPE sheets can be considered for chemical-service panels, covers and machined components. Selection starts with the actual sheet grade and operating conditions, not the label HDPE 100. If your specification calls for PE100, identify that requirement and confirm the offered material and supporting documentation before ordering.

    • Chemical exposure: assess the identified chemicals or mixtures, concentration, temperature and contact duration for the actual grade.
    • Mechanical duty: review loads, supports, impact and long-term deformation rather than relying on a general toughness claim.
    • Wet service: low water absorption does not eliminate thermal movement, creep or the need for dimensional allowances.
    • Processing: cut-to-size and drawing-based CNC machining can be reviewed separately from welding and finished-equipment approval.
    • Supply definition: specify thickness, length, width, colour, surface and the documents required for acceptance.

Send the application, media list, service conditions, sheet dimensions, drawing and quantity. The quotation should identify the offered material, processing scope, minimum order quantity, packing and delivery terms.

What to check for chemical and mechanical service

    • Material identity: compare grade-specific data, test methods and supplied form; a PE100 name is not a universal performance table.
    • Sliding or wear contact: specify the counterface, pressure, movement and contaminants; do not treat PE100 and UHMWPE as interchangeable wear grades.
    • Chemical compatibility: a general acid or alkali description is insufficient, especially for mixtures, oxidising media or changing process conditions.
    • Part design: allow for supports, fasteners, temperature changes and movement; low sheet weight does not establish load capacity.
    • Maintenance planning: agree inspection and replacement criteria for the actual service instead of assuming a fixed lifetime or maintenance saving.

    Chemical-service applications to assess

    • Tank panels and covers: assess the sheet, structural design, joints and applicable acceptance requirements as a complete system.
    • Linings and splash guards: distinguish occasional splashes from continuous immersion and check the exposed surfaces, edges and fixings.
    • Machined spacers, pads and support parts: define dimensions, loads, contact surfaces and the required machining tolerance.
    • Pickling or plating auxiliary parts: provide the actual baths, concentrations, cleaning agents and temperature cycle for compatibility review.
    • Protection panels: assess impact, mounting, chemical exposure and any outdoor conditions before choosing the sheet grade.

Define the sheet and machining scope

    • Specify finished thickness, length, width and tolerances, together with the drawing revision and expected support arrangement.
    • Mark cutting outlines, holes, chamfers and CNC features on the drawing; identify dimensions that must be checked before dispatch.
    • Agree colour, texture, protected faces and acceptable surface condition without assuming these prove chemical or UV suitability.
    • Set out any project labels, distributor packing and repeat-order requirements in the quotation.

    Agree inspection and material records

    • Define how thickness, overall dimensions and machined features will be measured and what tolerances apply.
    • Agree the surfaces to inspect and acceptance limits for visible marks, inclusions and other defects.
    • Specify the material identification, batch information and supporting documents required; confirm which records accompany this order.
    • Agree pre-dispatch inspection and packing checks. Routine sheet checks do not certify a chemical tank or finished assembly.

    Information for the chemical-service quotation

    • Service: chemical names or mixtures, concentrations, contact duration, operating temperatures and cleaning conditions.
    • Sheet: required grade, thickness, length, width, colour, quantity and drawing.
    • Work scope: identify cutting and machining separately from welding, installation and equipment-design responsibilities.
    • Delivery: destination, requested schedule, packing and agreed trade terms.
    • Quotation review: confirm the offered grade, dimensions, processing, required records, minimum order quantity and delivery conditions.

    FAQ

Does HDPE 100 identify the same thing as PE100?

PE100 is a material classification based on long-term strength, widely used for polyethylene pressure-pipe compounds and also used for identified sheet grades. It does not mean 100 percent purity, a universal chemical rating or approval of a finished tank. Confirm the exact supplied grade and documentation rather than accepting HDPE 100 as a complete specification.

Does a PE100 designation make a sheet suitable for a chemical tank?

No. The chemicals, concentration, temperature, exposure time, loads, joints and complete design still need assessment. Material classification alone does not approve the tank, and chemical-resistance guidance does not replace equipment design or application testing where required.

Can HDPE sheets be welded for the proposed assembly?

HDPE is a weldable thermoplastic, but the actual base materials, any filler, process and joint design must be compatible. State the joining requirement separately; this product page does not promise a qualified tank-welding service.

How is thickness selected for a chemical-service panel?

Use the actual supports, loads, temperature, exposure and required service life in the design. A thicker sheet or a short-term strength value alone does not demonstrate that a tank wall or panel is adequate.

Can cutting and CNC machining be included in this order?

Send the drawing, quantity and tolerances for review. The quotation confirms the cutting and CNC-machining scope, including holes, edges and dimensions requiring inspection.

Does a black HDPE sheet automatically have outdoor UV protection?

No. Confirm the grade's UV-stabilisation information and the intended outdoor conditions. Black colour alone is not evidence of a specific UV performance or service lifetime.

How are the offered sheet dimensions confirmed?

Submit the required thickness, width and length. Formats such as 1220 × 2440 mm or 1500 × 3000 mm can be listed in the request, but the offered dimensions, tolerances and cutting plan must be confirmed for the selected grade.

What packing details matter for HDPE sheet delivery?

Agree protected faces, pallet or crate dimensions, marking and handling requirements. Include the destination and unloading constraints so packing is checked for the actual shipment.

What should repeat projects and distributors specify?

Define the grade, drawing revision, acceptance checks, required records and packing for repeat orders. Agree how material or specification changes will be reviewed rather than assuming all later batches are interchangeable.

What is needed to review the sheet quotation?

Send the grade requirement, chemical-service details, dimensions, drawing, quantity and destination. Zhihong Plastic can review sheet supply and drawing-based machining; any PE100 documentation, joining work or finished-equipment requirement must be confirmed within the agreed scope.
