Scope & Typical Uses
- Food prep boards, conveyor wear strips, chutes, liners
- Storage bins, trays, cutting & deboning tables
- Packaging and equipment guards in food plants
Regulatory Frameworks We Follow
| Region | Key Regulations | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| US (FDA) | 21 CFR 177.1520 (Olefin polymers); related provisions for additives (e.g., 21 CFR 178 subparts, as applicable) | HDPE base resin for food contact, conditions of use; additive compliance per the relevant sections. |
| EU | Framework: EC 1935/2004 (materials intended to contact food) GMP: EC 2023/2006 (good manufacturing practice) Plastics: EU 10/2011 (incl. amendments) — SML/OML, DoC, testing with food simulants | Material safety, documentation, overall migration limit (OML) 10 mg/dm² (or 60 mg/kg, where applicable), specific migration limits (SML) when listed. |
Material & Additives
- Resin: Food-contact HDPE grades suitable for 21 CFR 177.1520 and EU 10/2011 applications.
- Additives (examples): antioxidants, UV stabilizers, slip/antiblock, pigments — selected only from listings permitted for food-contact polymers in the target jurisdiction (e.g., FDA 21 CFR 178 subparts / EU 10/2011 positive list with SML where applicable).
- Colors: Natural/black and selected food-contact color systems; custom Pantone on request (may affect lead time/MOQ and testing).
Migration Testing & Conditions
For EU deliveries, we conduct migration per EU 10/2011 using the appropriate food simulants:- Simulant A (10% ethanol) — hydrophilic foods
- Simulant B (3% acetic acid) — acidic foods
- Simulant C (20% ethanol) / D1 (50% ethanol) — alcoholic foods
- Simulant D2 (vegetable oil) — fatty foods
- Simulant E (Tenax) — dry foods, where relevant
Documentation You Receive
- Declaration of Compliance (DoC) — EU 10/2011: identity of the manufacturer, material identification, applicable regulations, intended use/simulants, time/temperature, surface area to volume ratio, substances with restrictions (and confirmation they are within limits), and traceability references.
- Certificate of Analysis (COA) — batch-level: thickness/tolerance map, density, color ΔE (if applicable), visual QC, and reference to migration report or summary statement.
- GMP statement — per EC 2023/2006.
Our Traceability — Resin to Pallet
- Batch ID structure: resin lot + masterbatch lot + extrusion line + date/time stamp.
- Records retained: incoming COA, formulation sheet, extrusion log (temps/line speed), QC checkpoints, packing list.
- On-pack labels: product code, gauge, color, quantity, batch/lot, production date.
- Recall readiness: lot-level backward/forward trace in under 24 hours.

Design & Hygiene Notes
- Edges & corners: radius or chamfer; deburr to prevent residue traps.
- Fastening: use slots to allow thermal movement; stainless hardware.
- Cleaning: mild detergents; avoid aggressive solvents; rinse & dry.
- Temperature: continuous use up to ~80 °C; avoid 121 °C steam autoclave unless validated for your design.

FAQ
Is your HDPE “FDA-approved”?
FDA does not “approve” finished sheets. We use materials and formulations suitable under 21 CFR 177.1520 and relevant 21 CFR provisions for additives, for the stated Conditions of Use. We provide documentation with your order.Do you supply an EU DoC?
Yes. For EU shipments we supply a Declaration of Compliance per EU 10/2011, plus COA and a GMP statement (EC 2023/2006).Can you provide migration test results?
We provide a migration summary or report reference aligned to your specified simulants and time/temperature profile. What about colorants?
We select color systems suitable for food-contact polymers under the requested jurisdiction and declare any restrictions (e.g., SML) in the DoC if applicable.Bulk & Project Supply
