For a custom PP or PE sheet quote, include the application, material requirements, finished sizes, quantities and delivery destination in your request for quotation (RFQ). These details let us review material options, cutting yield, fabrication, inspection and packing on the same basis. A price for “HDPE sheet” alone may assume a different grade, size or supply scope from the one you need.
You do not need to settle every technical detail before contacting us. Mark which requirements are fixed, which are preferences and which need a recommendation. We can then identify missing information and propose options for review instead of quoting against an unstated assumption.
Start with these details: application, material or required performance, finished dimensions, quantity, drawing where applicable, operating conditions, delivery destination and required arrival date.

1. Explain the application and operating conditions
Tell us what the sheet or part will do: for example, a guard, liner, tank component, cutting surface, outdoor panel, engraved sign or machined guide. Describe how it is supported or assembled, what it contacts and which failure modes matter to the application.
For chemical exposure, provide the chemical name or mixture, concentration, contact duration and temperature. For mechanical parts, state the load, support spacing, movement, impact, abrasion and mating components. For outdoor use, include sunlight exposure, temperature range, intended service life and color requirements. These details are more useful than “industrial grade” on its own.

2. Specify the material and required documentation
If a material is already approved, provide the polymer and grade or product code, color, surface finish and virgin or specified recycled-content requirement. HDPE is a type of PE, not a separate polymer family. Where relevant, state the required UV stabilization, antistatic or conductive performance, fire behavior or custom color, together with the test method and acceptance limits.
For food contact, drinking-water contact, electrical or fire-performance requirements, identify the destination market, applicable specification and documents you need. Ask us to confirm what evidence is available for the proposed finished grade, color, additives and thickness range. A resin data sheet alone does not establish compliance for every finished product or use; any required testing and documentation must be agreed before the order.
3. List finished sizes, quantities and tolerances
Use one item table for all sheet sizes or parts, with units on both the drawing and the inquiry. Distinguish nominal full-sheet dimensions from finished dimensions after cutting or machining. The examples below show how to organize a request; they are not a stock list, minimum order quantity or tolerance guarantee.

Specify tolerances from the function of the part rather than copying a metal drawing unchanged. Plastic dimensions can be affected by temperature, clamping and stress released during machining. Mark the dimensions that control fit or performance and agree how and under what conditions they will be measured. For thickness and support considerations, use our HDPE sheet thickness guide.
4. Send drawings with a clear revision
For fabricated parts, send a dimensioned PDF drawing for quotation and inspection. Add a DXF for flat profiles or a STEP file for three-dimensional machining, if available. Identify the part number and revision in every file, and state which document takes precedence if the drawing and model differ.
Show datums, critical dimensions, hole sizes and positions, surface and edge requirements, threads or inserts, welds, engraving and appearance-sensitive areas where relevant. A physical sample can explain shape or finish, but measured requirements are still needed for an agreed quotation and inspection.
5. Define fabrication and surface finish
State whether you need full sheets, cut-to-size blanks or finished parts. List any routing, milling, turning, drilling, welding, bending, engraving or assembly required so we can confirm the scope. Specify the permitted edge condition and appearance, including limits on burrs, scratches or tool marks, and whether protective film is required and should remain on delivery.

6. Agree samples, inspection and records
Include inspection and documentation in the RFQ so their availability, cost and timing can be confirmed before production. Identify the features your receiving team will check. For a new design, material, color or supply arrangement, consider an agreed sample, first article or small pilot batch before approving the bulk order. Define what is being approved and who can authorize production.

7. Separate order quantities and lead times
State the trial quantity, first production order, estimated annual volume and likely order frequency. Identify which quantities are committed and which are forecasts. A one-off prototype, repeat order, custom-color batch and container shipment may have different setup costs, minimum quantities and packing needs.
Give the required arrival date and destination. Ask for sample preparation, drawing or color approval, production and transit times to be shown separately. Agree the event that starts the production lead time and any dependency on material availability or buyer approval. A production-completion date is not the same as an arrival date.
8. Confirm packing, destination and trade terms
Provide the delivery city, country, postal code and any limits on pallet dimensions, gross weight or unloading equipment. If you have a preferred Incoterms rule, give the named place or port and the edition as well. Ask for the proposed units per pallet, protective film or interleaving, edge protection, labels and forklift access.
Compare delivered costs using the same trade term, named place and scope. Clarify which party handles export and import clearance, destination charges, duties, insurance and unloading. Freight payment and transfer of risk do not necessarily occur at the same point. Agree the packing plan for large sheets or appearance-sensitive surfaces before production.
9. Compare quotations against the same specification
Send the same RFQ revision to each supplier and ask for any exclusions, assumptions or deviations to be listed. The quotation should identify the grade, finished dimensions, tolerances, surface, color, quantity, fabrication, inspection, documents, packing, lead time, trade term and validity period.
Check those details before comparing the price. An offer for virgin material and finished parts is not equivalent to one for recycled-content stock sheets with basic packing and no inspection report. Frequently asked questions
Can I request a quote before choosing the material?
Yes. Send the application, temperature, chemical exposure, loads, outdoor conditions, documentation requirements and intended service life. We can review candidate grades and identify what still needs to be checked. For critical uses, material selection and application approval must be based on the actual service conditions and agreed evidence.
Do rectangular cut-to-size sheets need a drawing?
A size table may be enough for rectangular blanks if the units, dimensions, tolerances, quantity and edge requirements are clear. Use a revision-controlled drawing for holes, profiles, critical fits, machining, welds or inspection datums.
Should I include a target price?
A target price can help us review alternatives if some requirements are flexible. Keep the technical specification clear and identify where a different grade, size, process or packing arrangement is acceptable. An alternative should be stated and approved, not substituted without agreement.
Why can a quotation change after the first review?
A revised grade, quantity, color, tolerance, fabrication scope, inspection requirement, packing plan or trade term can change the cost. An incomplete initial inquiry may also need clarification before a firm quotation. Ask for the updated scope and price to be confirmed against the agreed RFQ revision before ordering.
