UHMWPE parts: start with the job they need to do
UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) sheets are commonly considered for liners, conveyor guides, wear strips and machined wear parts. The useful question is whether the specified grade and part design match the contact conditions, load and environment. Use the component examples below to prepare a sheet or part inquiry with us.
For material limitations and grade checks, use our UHMWPE material selection guide. An application name alone does not select a grade or establish a replacement interval.
Hopper and chute liners
Hopper walls, chutes, transfer points and truck bodies are common liner locations. A liner provides a replaceable contact surface; whether it improves material release or wear life depends on the grade, conveyed material and installation.
For a liner inquiry, tell us what material is being handled, its particle size and moisture condition, the flow path and impact points, and the existing wear or sticking problem. Include the panel layout, backing surface, fixing method, operating temperature and access for replacement. We use these details to discuss the sheet and fabrication requirements.
Conveyor guides and wear strips
Chain guides, product guide rails, wear strips and sliding blocks are component forms used in conveying and automation. Their contact surfaces support or guide a moving chain, belt or product; the part geometry and mating material matter as much as the polymer name.
Send the chain or belt details, mating surface, load, speed, duty cycle, lubrication and cleaning conditions. Mark bends, joints, contact faces and clearances on the drawing. If you are replacing an existing part, a photograph and the wear pattern help explain the problem, but do not replace dimensions or grade identification.
Replaceable wear plates and sliding parts
Wear pads, protective plates, guide blocks and sliding strips can be assessed where the contact area, movement and support are defined. Describe which surface is intended to wear and how the part will be inspected and replaced; a general material data sheet does not predict the life of the finished component.
For continuously loaded parts, identify the bearing area, support arrangement, duration of the load, allowed movement and acceptable deformation. The equipment design also needs to address fastening, joints and thermal movement. A liner or wear plate should not be treated as a load-bearing structural panel without a separate design review.
Drawing-based UHMWPE parts
If you need a finished part rather than a full sheet, send a dimensioned drawing with its revision number. Identify whether you need a straight-cut panel, drilled plate, routed profile or CNC-machined part. We review the requested geometry and fabrication scope for each inquiry.
Show final dimensions, datums, tolerances, holes, slots, cut-outs, edge details and mating interfaces. Mark the dimensions to be measured after machining and any inspection or traceability documents required for acceptance. Agree those requirements before production rather than adding them after the part has been made.
Special requirements need grade-specific evidence
If your application requires food-contact documentation, static-control performance, outdoor exposure resistance or other regulated properties, tell us the exact requirement and target market before quotation. It must be checked for the offered grade and finished part.
Send an application-focused inquiry
To discuss a UHMWPE liner, guide or drawing-based wear part, send us:
- Part function: the equipment, contact surfaces and the wear, sliding or material-flow problem to be addressed.
- Service conditions: conveyed or mating material, load, movement, impact, temperature range, cleaning and any contact with chemicals.
- Material requirement: the specified UHMWPE grade, color, surface and any required grade-identification evidence.
- Drawing details: revision number, finished dimensions, tolerances, holes, joints, fixing points and acceptance measurements.
- Special requirements: the target market and any specified food-contact, static-control, outdoor, inspection or traceability requirements.
- Order details: quantity, packing requirements, delivery destination and required date.
For full sheets and cut panels, our UHMWPE supply and cutting guide covers the order details. We confirm the offered grade, fabrication scope and commercial terms for each request; installation and application approval remain part of the equipment design.
