Anti-static is not a complete specification for mine-site ground protection mats. Review material identity, electrical evidence and intended use together, particularly where combustible gas or dust may be present.

This guide separates supplier documentation from specialist application review. It does not approve Zhihong Plastic mats for underground mining, explosive atmospheres or a particular vehicle load.
Identify the PE grade and electrical requirement
HDPE is high-density polyethylene; UHMWPE is ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, also written UHMW-PE or UPE. These grade names are not interchangeable and do not establish electrical performance, reinforcement, flame behaviour or mat suitability. Read the UHMWPE sheet application overview.
- Anti-static PE: request the precise grade, claimed electrical behaviour and supporting test method.
- Conductive PE: confirm the supplier's conductivity designation and electrical data; do not treat it as insulating PE.
- Insulating PE: electrical insulation is a different requirement, not a synonym for anti-static or conductive performance.
- Electrical classification: agree the applicable criteria with the responsible specialist, rather than relying on colour or a product label.
- Formulation: confirm any additives or reinforcement for the offered grade; do not assume glass-fibre reinforcement.
Manufacturers publish separate anti-static and conductive PE grades with different electrical data. Another manufacturer's measurements or approvals do not establish the performance of a Zhihong Plastic mat.
Separate material data from application qualification
1. Check what the electrical report actually measures
Surface resistance, surface resistivity and volume resistivity are different measurements. The report must identify the property, method, units and sample; an unexplained resistance value is not a complete acceptance basis.
- Test reference: record the standard, edition and any departures from the stated method.
- Test conditions: record conditioning, temperature, humidity and the tested surface condition.
- Measurement setup: identify electrode arrangement, applied voltage and measurement duration where the method requires them.
- Sample identity: distinguish published grade data from a report for the supplied batch or finished mat.
2. Review the complete mat application
A material specimen does not reproduce the complete mat arrangement. The responsible specialists must determine application criteria and whether finished-product or installed-system evidence is needed.
- Point-to-point resistance: clarify whether evidence is required across the finished mat or connected arrangement.
- Resistance to ground: clarify whether the application requires a system-level measurement, separate from material resistivity.
- Finished configuration: include relevant joints, surface texture, wear and contamination in the application review.
IEC guidance addresses equipment, product and process properties. A material data sheet or ESD label alone does not demonstrate suitability for a particular explosive atmosphere.
3. Keep other performance claims separate
Electrical performance does not establish fire classification, load capacity, weathering resistance or environmental claims. Each requirement needs offered-material evidence under relevant conditions, not a description such as safe or eco-friendly.
- Fire behaviour: identify the required classification, test basis, thickness and application scope.
- Outdoor exposure: confirm any UV stabilisation and supporting evidence for the offered grade.
- Chemical exposure: identify the substances, concentration, temperature and contact duration for compatibility review.
The PE name does not guarantee harmless emissions or recycling. Reuse and disposal depend on condition, contamination, formulation and the applicable collection or treatment route.
4. Review fabrication and changes to the mat
Machining and surface changes can affect test relevance. Agree the final configuration before deciding which documents or checks cover the mat.
- Drawing: identify panel dimensions, thickness, tread, holes, handles and connection features.
- Fabrication scope: confirm which cutting or machining operations are included in the supplied configuration.
- Traceability: agree how the offered grade, batch and supplied panels will be identified.
- Changes: ask the responsible specialist whether alterations, repair or wear require further verification.
This is not an installation, maintenance or electrical protection procedure. Responsible project personnel must specify those requirements and acceptance criteria; this article cannot replace their assessment.
Documents to request for a mine-site mat review
| Mat review item | Evidence or requirement to identify |
|---|---|
| PE material identity | Exact HDPE or UHMWPE grade and formulation |
| Finished mat surface | Tread, finish and relevant surface test condition |
| Electrical performance | Property, test method, conditions and sample identity |
| Mat load duty | Load, contact area and ground-support review; no universal tonnage rating |
| Mat dimensions and thickness | Agreed length, width, thickness and tolerances |
| Mat exposure requirements | Separate UV, chemical and fire requirements |
| Mat reuse requirements | Condition-based acceptance and any required re-verification |
The separate ground protection product overview covers general supply enquiries, not approval for a hazardous mine environment. View Zhihong Plastic ground protection mats.
Describe the intended mine-site setting
- Location and duty: describe the actual access route or work area, not only the mine name.
- Surface or underground use: identify the proposed location and the responsible application reviewer.
- Atmosphere requirements: provide the specialist's specified hazardous-area requirements where applicable.
- Mechanical duty: describe vehicle contact, load duration and ground support for design review.
- Acceptance authority: identify the party responsible for confirming application suitability and required documentation.
Confirm the actual supply scope
Zhihong Plastic can review the stated PE sheet or mat requirements. Anti-static or conductive grade availability, electrical evidence and application-specific approval must be confirmed before accepting an offered configuration.
- Panel geometry: confirm dimensions, thickness and fabrication features against the drawing.
- Surface scope: confirm the requested tread or finish and its documentation requirements.
- Identification: agree panel marking and traceability without implying an unverified certification.
- Special grades: request separate confirmation of electrical, UV or fire-related requirements.
Submit the specification for review
Send the specification and required evidence for a material and fabrication review. Do not substitute an ordinary mat where the project requires a certified product. Send the mine-site mat specification to Zhihong Plastic.
Agree the order documentation
- Quotation: identify the offered grade, finished configuration and documents included in the supply scope.
- Inspection: agree dimensional and surface checks separately from any required electrical test report.
- Shipment: agree protection, pallet or crate, marking and destination requirements for the order.
Request a documented mat supply review
Send us the material, electrical criteria and test basis, application, drawing, dimensions, quantity and destination. We confirm the supply scope and supporting evidence available for your enquiry, together with the minimum order quantity and delivery terms.
